Independent Contractor
As a locum tenens provider, you are considered an independent
contractor. This means that PhysicianJobs.com will not withhold any
taxes out of your paychecks. At the end of the year, you will receive
an IRS Form 1099 so you will be responsible for all state and federal
income taxes associates with your aggregate compensation. The Provider
Agreement outlines the terms and conditions associated with locum
tenens employment.
The Provider Agreement will be supplemented by a Schedule "A" for
each confirmed locum tenens booking. The Schedule "A" will list the pay
rate, the facility location, and dates of coverage being confirmed. You
will be asked to submit weekly timesheets that have been signed by an
appropriate client representative so PhysicianJobs.com can process your
payment on a timely basis.
Unlike some other recruiting firms, PhysicanJobs.com pays providers
weekly and direct deposit is offered as an option for your convenience.
Providers are expected to offer uninterrupted coverage for each
locum tenens assignment they accept. Otherwise, providers are required
to give thirty days advance notice if the wish to cancel a confirmed
assignment. Also, the Provider Agreement includes an industry standard
non-compete clause. This clause stipulates that a provider agrees not
to work at client facility except through PhysiciansJobs.com if
PhysicianJobs.com introduced the provider to the client (via CV
presentation or otherwise) for a period of 2 years following the
termination of the provider's locum tenens contract with
PhysicianJobs.com. This non-compete clause applies to direct employment
with the client, or referral employment/locum tenens through another
recruiting agency.
